When I had Addison, we used the Graco Quattro Tour for a while, and had gotten the Mia Moda stroller to use when we didn't need a large stroller. The Graco was awesome because it was so much nicer than the Metrolite, and seemed so much sturdier, but the Mia Moda was horrid. I seriously hated that stroller. I started looking into the Joovy strollers and fell in love. We ended up getting the Joovy Kooper, which we still love to this day. It is a midweight stroller, and priced accordingly. For a third stroller it wasn't cheap, but it was well worth the money. So, when I found out we were having another baby, I started looking into strollers again. Yes, we could use the Graco since it's practically in new condition, but I wanted something that Addison could "ride" in too. We all know how kids get at Disneyland, museums, the zoo, etc.
Originally I had LOVED the Kolcraft Contours, and would DEFINITELY get it if Addison were under 2 years old, or if I were having twins. There is no doubt that is one awesome stroller! But honestly, it seems like too much of a stroller for a 3 year old, who will be 3 yrs 8 months when the new baby is born. So, of course, I looked at the Joovy strollers. They have a Caboose, which is like the Sit n' Stand, but way better. It was an option, until I realized that the infant sit goes in the front (on the actual seat), so the older child can ride in the back. Then I looked at the Joovy Ergo Caboose. That is like the Rolls Royce of sit n' stand type strollers, and was priced like it. On Babies R' Us, that stroller was $400!!!! It wouldn't be bad, but when you already have 3 strollers, it seems like a lot. But, after reading reviews, seeing as how the older child can sit in the front, and the baby goes in the back so they are close to you while you push them, I had to have it.
It just so happened that when we were going to my parents' house for Addison's birthday, Joovy was having a warehouse sale. I had told Carlos that if the stroller were cheap enough, we were getting it. Carlos had taken the day off, so we stopped at the warehouse in Irvine on our way up. It was an hour before the sale ended, so I was worried there wouldn't be anything left. The prices for a new, in the box stroller were $280, and for a "refurbished" model were $189. Seriously??? There was one out of the box, and a girl had told us it was refurbished. All that means is that something happened to it while they set it up, it was fixed, and set up once again. It had never even left the warehouse. We looked over the stroller, had Addison ride in it, and decided that, since there was not a scratch on it, we couldn't pass it up! We got the parent organizer, which of course upped the price, but hey, everyone knows you need a place for drinks, phone, camera, etc. We got to the register and the woman told us that it was $280, because the refurbished strollers had all been sold early in the morning. This one had just been taken out of the box and set up, and was BRAND NEW. I told her that someone had told us it was refurbished, and she ended up giving it to us for $189!!! So, basically with our add-on parent organizer and everything, we got a $400 +tax brand new stroller, for about $220! I was so excited! I know by far, this will be the best deal we will get on any baby item that we buy! Right now they are on sale on Amazon for $310! Definitely worth the price! Now we just have to wait a while to use it!
One of my favorite things is the ergonomic mesh seat in the front. Perfect for when the weather is HOT! All Joovy strollers come with the BEST sunshades that actual cover the baby, which I love. The front tray comes off and there are two cupholders, one for snacks and the other for a drink. Addison loves these already. The back seat (for when the baby can move up to the front and Addison can sit back there) has a removeable sunshade as well. The storeage basket is HUGE! And of course, it is 100x better than a side-by-side stroller, since you can actually push it everywhere!
And that is why it pays to be a FB fan of stores and products that you love. Especially when tons of warehouses are located in Irvine! Gotta love Warehouse sales!
