Addison's weird foot!
So, last night, we noticed that Addison's left toe was pointed out, and her foot looked curved, like a kidney bean. I immediately freaked out, thinking she may have broken something somehow. She was not in any pain, and the toe could easily be moved back to a straight position. We thought we would watch it and see what happens. I looked it up on the internet, and it is a common condition called Metatarsus Adductus. It is a curving of the foot which usually occurs when babies are born or in their early years, before walking. It can be corrected by a shoe worn at night, or with stretching if the foot easily bends. This would be great, except that it happened literally overnight! We ALWAYS watch the way she walks, since she has been walking a little over a month, and I had noticed her walking 'different' yesterday at the park. It does not seem to hurt her, but looks really gross and painful! I tried calling the nurse today and was on hold forever, and even though we have her 15-month checkup in two weeks, I made an appointment to take her in tomorrow. It could also be cause by hip displaysia or a turned tibia, which is why I am more concerned, although nothing is too serious and it will not affect her in any way. If you look up intoeing on the internet, the picture looks EXACTLY like her foot, which is how I knew! I guess it is better to be safe than sorry!
