Today I took Addison to the zoo BY MYSELF! We were supposed to meet friends there, but due to people not having common sense, or maybe a lack of courtesy, they showed up 2 1/2 hrs late and I was so over it, that we left before we actually met them. While we were waiting for them, we walked around and saw a lot of things that Addison hadn't seen before, either because she was sleeping, or because we hadn't gone into those areas. Anyone that has been to the SD Zoo knows how massive it is. We were there about 3 hrs today, and saw so much, even if we did only cover about 1/4 of the zoo. Addison finally saw the pandas, which she absolutely loved! We watched a cute Sea Lion show, hung out in the childrens zoo, and she even pet a Goat in the petting zoo. Goats gross me out, and to get her to pet one, I had to make the first move, but I had to! I don't want her to grow up being one of those kids that is scared of absolutely everything. She actually pet the goat about 3 times on her own. We definitely washed our hands, but I was excited that she was so brave!
At one point, to escape the heat, we went into a store to look at the books. Anyone that knows Addison, knows she has been turning the pages (properly) in books since she was about 5 months old, and loves to 'read'. We immediately saw the book, "Good Night Zoo" (she has "Good Night San Diego") and were going to get that, until she screamed out "Po's!". She spotted, "What Do Hippos Do?", so of course, we bought that instead. "Good Night Zoo" will be bought in the future...I can guarantee it! That is one of my biggest downfalls (or maybe not)...I cannot resist buying her books! When we bought her nursery furniture, I had to buy the tall bookcase that went with the set. I wanted that even more than a changing table! She has books on her bookcase, as well as in a basket under a table in our living room. She even stole my mom's "Kauai" book from their house, and carried it around for about a week straight! We will return it, although it is a bit ragged!
Even though it was hot, I was irritated by lame people, and tired....we had a fun little outing today!
