Did I ever think I could shop too much? Absolutely not. The UPS and mailmen are constantly delivering packages. I love shopping! The internet makes shopping so much better! I thought I would love shopping for things for a home, but I think after all of the shopping that I did, I was a little burnt out. Maybe it was the amount of money spent in one day that made me not want to shop anymore, but I have to say, it was exhausting!
We absolutely had to get new flooring since I could smell cat pee every time we walked in the house. Nothing grosses me out more than animal smell, whether it's their urine, or just their smell in general. People with pets are used to the smell, and yes, they all smell, but I just can't stand it. We had someone from Empire come out and give us an estimate. I really wanted wood flooring downstairs. I didn't even care if it was real hardwood or engineered hardwood (as long as it was top quality and looked real), and of course, Carlos really wanted the handscraped wood. I didn't think that was an option, if we weren't laying it ourselves, since the installation is really the expensive part! Since we didn't have time to do the flooring downstairs, I knew it would have to be done by professionals. I really didn't want carpet, but figured we would see what we could do. We opted for an espresso colored carpet for the stairs and all of the upstairs flooring, and I ended up falling in LOVE with a Hickory handscraped flooring for the downstairs. To say it was over the budget I had in my head would be putting it mildly, but I seriously had to have it! I am seriously soooooo excited to get it! It looks like something you would find in an old southern home, and has a 'distressed' look to it. I knew I didn't want anything with a honey tone to it, and this is more brown, so I think it will look amazing! Plus, it coordinates with the carpet really well!
Our next purchase of the day was appliances. By appliances, I mean dishwasher...microwave...range...refrigerator...washer and dryer! We went to Pacific Sales since they have great package deals and purchased all of that, along with a t.v. We weren't planning on the t.v., but the price was awesome, so of course we couldn't pass it up! Seeing as how the cutout for the t.v. only allows for 43", we ended up with a 42". That is plenty big enough. I don't want the family room to look like a lounge, so am glad that we weren't getting anything bigger than that.
The final purchase of the day were blinds for the ENTIRE house! I seriously didn't know it would cost so much for blinds. I was not about to get metal blinds, so I guess that is where the higher price comes in, but still, I didn't really think of blinds as being a major expense! Ugh! I guess the good thing is that we had spent so much money anyway, I was just over it and wanted to get everything ordered and done with!
Everything is coming along well. It definitely will not be completely done by the time we move in, but the main things will be done. We may not have the extra bathroom or room painted, but for the most part, the important things will be done! Next on my agenda is getting Addison's room painted and decorated, and getting her a big girl bed! Eek! That means she's growing up!
