This weekend was PACKED full of fall activities. We had been meaning to go to the pumpkin patch, corn maze, Oak Glen, etc, but never had time. I swear that is always the excuse, but when you are working on a house every weekend, it happens to be true!
On Friday we went to Peltzer Farms...finally! Peltzer Farms is right in the heart of wine country, and is open year round, although we waited to go until we could get pumpkins as well. They have a petting zoo, pony rides, pig races, and because it's Fall, they had a small corn maze and pumpkin patch. Anyone that knows Addison, knows she loves horses!!! She loves all animals actually, except for hyper dogs! Lol! She went on the pony ride and fell in love with her pony, "Buttercup". We then went into the petting zoo, until I spotted the chickens which were just running wild. Ewww. I got out real fast. But, she had a great time feeding the goats.
On Saturday, we woke up early and headed to Oak Glen to meet my parents and grandparents. We have been going for as long as I can remember, along with every other family in Southern California. I think it's everyones tradition to go each year. Unfortunately, the rest of the world is now going, and it is always PACKED!!! I wish we had gone during the week so we could enjoy it. We ate breakfast at Apple Annie's, Addison rode on the train around the village, and then we attempted to go to Los Rios Rancho. That was a bust, so we headed to Snow-Line. After drinking Los Rios Rancho Apple Cider my entire life, I have to admit, I like Snow-Lines Apple Cider WAY more! It is so good! Addison went back to my parents' house. As we were leaving, I found my favorite crafter ever, the lady who makes fabric bowls. They are seriously awesome. Addison has a small Mickey Mouse bowl that she has been holding a few of her mini-books in, and this year I got a larger Sugar Skull bowl for Halloween, and a Princess and the Frog bowl, which will probably hold more mini-books.
On our way home, since we didn't have Addison, we decided to go to Old Town Temecula. It is always crowded there, and most of the stores are not kid/stroller-friendly, so we took the opportunity to go without her. We went into a few antique stores, bought oils from the Temecula Olive Oil Company, bought cheese and honey from the Temecula Valley Cheese Company, and ate at Mad Madeline's. After, we headed to Home Goods. Poor Carlos. Hehe!
On Sunday, my parents came down with Addison to finish working on the baseboards. Aside from needing some paint touch-ups where the nails are, they are done, and look awesome! What a difference between nice baseboards and molding around the doors, and the plain-jane kind that is usually used. I will have to take pictures!
My grandparents surprised us and came down as well. We really did not think they'd come down since they had just driven from Palm Springs to Oak Glen the day before, so I was shocked that my grandpa drove from Palm Springs down here! We hung out at the house and then headed to Maurice Car'rie Winery for lunch. I love South Coast Winery because it is big, but it is way too commercialized, as a lot of them are becoming. Maurice Car'rie is so cute, and reminds me of a plantation out in the country. We ate out on the huge porch, and had so much fun! Addison always has so much fun with my grandpa, who is now obsessed with her saying, "Oh my, oh my!" He thinks it is hilarious!
Next weekend, we are going to attempt to finally go to the big corn maze, as well as the community Halloween carnival, and trick-or-treating Monday night!
