I know it is strange to say this, but I cooked dinner for my parents for the first time EVER on Sunday night. It sounds very weird, but we ALWAYS go out to eat or grab food when we are together. When we were in SD, we would always go out to a restaurant, and since they have been here every weekend fixing up the house, we usually just grab food. It was not an intentional thing, but I had planned on making barbecue chicken sandwiches on Saturday, and realized that I didn't have enough bbq sauce. We were planning on going to the store, so I figured I'd make it when my parents were there.
It was the most food I have ever made at one time. I needed to practice for Christmas to see what additional baking things, platters, bowls, etc, I will need. Of course, the menu is completely different, but it's always good to 'take inventory'. We had BBQ chicken sandwiches (which are the BEST), homemade rolls and honey butter, mashed potatoes, yummy mac and cheese, salad, and whoopee pies for dessert. The whoopee pies were from a Funfetti Kit. I didn't like them at all, but other people did.
BBQ chicken is seriously delish!!! Plus, it's so simple to make in the crock-pot, which I need to start using more. I love it to death, but I think the barbecue chicken is the only thing I have ever made in it! Lol! I love kitchen gadgets. If you open one of my cupboards you will find the crock-pot, cocoa-latte maker, iced tea maker, quesadilla maker, panini maker...and I'm sure there is more! Seriously, anything that makes cooking easy is great! The one thing I do not have (and probably won't have again) is a waffle maker. I have successfully burnt up three of them by using too much batter! Although I do have my eye on the cute ones that make Disney characters!
