Happy Thanksgiving!

For Thanksgiving, we usually go to Palm Springs since my grandparents are there. This year was no different, except that once again Carlos had to work today, so we only went for the day. (We need to save up all of his vacation time) My parents were there as well, and Addison was going to go home with them after we had dinner. Since no one wanted to cook, or clean, my grandparents made reservations at an English restaurant called Lyon's. What a funny place! It had lions in the front, stained glass windows with Queen Elizabeth and Winston Churchill, pate to put on your bread, lights that were shaped like a crown, etc. I was just in awe of all of the English kitsch that restaurant had going on. Of course everyone had the turkey dinner. There is not one thing that I like about Thanksgiving dinner. Turkey, cranberries, yams, stuffing, pumpkin pie...I dislike it all! I was extremely thankful for my $10 Caesar salad and baked potato. Lol!

Addison was so happy to spend the day with her "best friend", Papa Cuckoo! It's funny how he lights up when she is around. He literally laughs at everything she says and does. Yesterday, she was showing him how to pay for things, scan them, and swipe a credit card. Then they were counting Reader's Digest magazines as she threw them at him and he caught them. Anyone that knows my grandpa knows that he is hysterically funny, and loves to rile people up. They had a great time!

It was a great day! A day that was spent with all of the people that I am thankful for. I am so happy that Addison is able to spend the holidays with her grandparents AND great-grandparents. Considering my grandpa is only "65" (laugh laugh), she has a long time to spend with them!

Laughing at my grandpa who (of course) was pretending to get bitten by the lion!
Addison went home with my parents after dinner. If it were up to my mom, she would take her every second she had off of work. Luckily, I am finally to the point where I let her. Lol! I decided that I would decorate for Christmas. We ALWAYS decorate while Addison is sleeping so that she has a huge surprise to wake up to. It's so much more fun that way! Well, since she isn't home, I figured I'd do it myself during the day. Wow, what an undertaking that was. It's amazing to think that I fit all of this stuff into our apartment! Of course, the funniest thing is to see how our once-perfect tree that fit so well in our apartment, now looks like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree in our living room. I don't feel like moving it, so it will do for this year. But, next year, it's going in the family room and a BIGGER tree is going in the living room! I just can't part with it. We got it at Walmart 3 years ago and it seriously looks so nice. Unless you get close, you really can't tell that it's fake. Carlos thinks it's kind of strange to have two trees, but anyone who knows my house and knows that there are two great spots for trees, knows that they will look great!

My favorite thing about decorating, is finding all of the things that I bought the previous year, and have since forgotten about! Now that I have decorations in three rooms, I need to do some serious Christmas decoration shopping and fill in all of the gaps! And of course, we have to go and buy all of our Christmas lights and decorations for outside. Home Depot, here we come! I love decorating so much, that I even paid the gardener to mow our lawn today so Carlos wouldn't have to do it tomorrow, and we could spend that much more time decorating outside. (Carlos is one of those weirdos that loves to mow his own lawn, so it wasn't as appreciated of a gesture as I meant it to be. Luckily, I already know this and don't care. Hehe!)

I hope that everyone had an amazing Thanksgiving with their friends and family. Remember to be thankful every day. One day a year is just not enough!
