Everyone knows that when Carlos is home, we like to go out and do things. I guess it is from growing up in California where there is ALWAYS something to do, or maybe just from me being cooped up during the week, usually sick or so exhausted I can barely move. (5 more months to go, and I'm still waiting for the 2nd trimester energy to kick in...and waiting, and waiting!) For the past couple of Saturday's I have been wanting to go out and do something fun, but have ended up sick every time. This Saturday, we had decided to go to the zoo and renew our passes, which expired earlier last year. The bad thing is that we now had to get Addison a pass, but the darn zoo is so expensive, that you can go two times and it pays for itself!
Addison was SO excited to go. The second we got into the parking lot, she spotted a parking sign for the meerkats, as well as the Skyfari! She insisted on taking a picture next to every single fake animal that she could sit or stand on. We ended up eating lunch there, which I shouldn't even talk about since I am hungry, and it was so good! Addison didn't want to eat an actual meal, so she gobbled up an entire fruit bowl. For a zoo, their food is pretty darn good!
On Sunday my parents came over and my mom and I went shopping, and my dad and Carlos continued to work on the area where Addison's swingset will go. Last week they rented a sod-cutter and got rid of the grass, and today they put up the border. Everyone wanted to put up a wood border, but nothing is worse than wood which rots away from the rain, sun, and whatever other elements harm wood. So, of course, they went with a wood composite which was a little lot more than I had planned on spending, but it has a wood look without the maintenance, and I guess in the long run it's better than having to replace actual wood.
Yesterday we took Addison to see Beauty and the Beast 3D. I hate wearing 3D glasses during movies. They just drive me crazy. Yes, the movie was AWESOME in 3D, but ugh, the glasses are annoying. Addison saw her first movie right after she turned 1, and has ALWAYS been really well behaved during movies. She used to fall asleep about halfway through. Thankfully, she stayed awake through the movie. The worse part about having a 3 year old, is finally having to buy them tickets everywhere you go! She watched the entire movie, and even ate a hot dog while we were there. When we got out, we had planned to go to Lucille's or CPK, but apparently the Icee I drank was not agreeing with me. It was also FREEZING outside. It's hard to believe that just days ago, we were wearing shorts. It was 49 degrees when we got in the car, and even colder than that because of the windchill factor. Brrr. And it wasn't even night time yet! But of course, I love it when it's cold!
