My parents bought Addison a swingset for Christmas. It has been sitting in a box in our garage forever. We had to rent a sod-cutter to remove the grass from the area where it will be. I don't know why, but I didn't like the idea of it being on grass. Carlos and my dad then put up a border around the area, although not wood because it would just rot away. It was more pricey, but at least it will last. It sat like that FOREVER because of the rain, and different things we were doing inside. Finally, we decided it just needed to get done.
They started putting it together last week, and it was in a million pieces. There was no way it was going to be put together by two people in less than a half day. So, they finished it yesterday, and headed to Home Depot to get sand. We were going to get play sand, but needed a ton, since the total area is equivalent to 36'x36'. One bonus of our backyard...there's a lot of room! Home Depot didn't have any, so they went to Lowe's. At $5 a bag for play sand, they opted for the multi-purpose sand which was about $1 or so less. Granted, you can't actually mold it for sand castles, but I am just fine with that! They bought about 38 bags, which is all that Lowe's had, and brought it home. After laying the tarp and opening all of the bags of sand (knowing that they hadn't gotten nearly enough), Addison officially had her swingset/sand area. We still need probably 40 more bags of sand!
Today we went out and played outside for over 2 hours. Addison did not want to come inside! I am hoping to get more of our backyard done and the grass to grow in better before my grandparents come down for Mother's Day. It will already be a huge difference!
Obsessed with playing in the sand! Notice the lack of sand? Lol!
Our beautiful day turned ugly once the marine layer blew in! At least we enjoyed it for most of the morning/afternoon!
