Sad Day in the Music World

There are some people/groups that are just classic. The Beastie Boys are by far, one of those legendary groups. Sadly, Adam "MCA" Yauch passed away today. I know it is kind of weird to post about, but honestly, anyone that knows anything about good music, knows how awesome The Beastie Boys are. Truly legendary. They were rappers before their time, rappers when most of rap was gangster rap. I remember back in the day, listening to my Ill Communication c.d. in my first car. Suzanne and I could listen to that c.d. for days. It was (and still is) that good! There were some jackasses that would ride around with us and complain about it. They clearly had no idea what good music was, and liked whatever was trendy on KIIS FM at the time. Hehe! It's true. Then it got to the point where we would play it over and over again on purpose. It was hysterical. All the while, getting our good music-fix in.

Even further back, well into the 80's I can remember my dad turning on the radio and hearing them play...along with Oingo Boingo. Lol! Awesome! I LOVE LOVE LOVE 90's music, because there are sooo many memories tied into it (I heard Monifah, Touch It, on 90's on 9 the other day and almost DIED...thank you for satellite radio), but there are those bands who really started it all in every generation, and The Beastie Boys were that band for the 80's. Honestly, look at all of the great groups who we all loved, but many of them didn't last. Why? People outgrew their music, they didn't get along and split up, or they really weren't as good as we thought they were.

Carlos likes, but doesn't love, the Beastie Boys. Why? Because he grew up in Smalltown U.S.A. where they probably only played 2 of their songs, and he really and truly never had a true cultural experience when it came to music. Poor Carlos!

RIP "MCA"
Truly a legend
