Crafty

I wouldn't say that I am particularly crafty, but I can figure out how to make something when I see it...for the most part! Addison's nursery was so matchy matchy. We literally had EVERYTHING from the entire bedding line. I ended up adding a few items that I had made myself, but when it came to the new baby's nursery, I found myself wanting to make more things myself. I did buy the 3 canvases to match the bedding, but that was it as far as decorations.

I had seen a really cute monogram made from buttons on Pinterest, but then decided that I couldn't find the right color buttons to make it, and really couldn't decide on the font either. I know, choices, choices. When Addison and I were at Michael's we walked down the aisle with the precut wood letters, and I decided that I would try out my first decoupage project. I found really cute paper, and flowers to go on it, and for being my first attempt at decoupage, it didn't turn out bad. Once I hung the letter, I decided that I wanted to frame it to make it stand out more, and completely took apart a frame that I found at Kirkland's, so that the actual wall color was the background. It turned out pretty cute and looks great over the crib. Don't worry, it is not going anywhere!
I had found a few banners on Etsy that were super cute, but the colors just weren't right. So, I decided to find fabric and make my own. I ended up finding a really cool vintage fabric that matched the colors of the room, and paired that with a really cool white fabric. I need to go back and buy more of that fabric since it would be super-cute as a little girls dress. The large ric-rac was also found on Etsy, and I cut it with pinking shears so that it would eventually fray.
I also wanted to make something with paper lanterns. I love the way that they paper lantern/tulle balls look in Addison's room, but wanted to do something just using the lanterns, and on a much smaller scale. This ended up being the perfect accent for above the changing table!

We finally found mirrors for our bathroom! I don't know how long it has been since we took out the large ugly mirror, but I just couldn't find the right sized mirrors. I had purchased two at Kirkland's, but they were WAY too big. I loved them so I ended up keeping one for above our dresser, and when we went back to exchange the other, found two that would fit perfect! I had Carlos get black paint for the "Masterpieces" project that will be in our hallway, and since we already had it, I decided to paint the cabinets to match the mirrors. What a HUGE difference. Aside from all new flooring in the house, this might be one of the biggest most noticeable changes! Once I have the doors completely painted, and the cute drawer pulls put on, I will post a new picture!
