38 Weeks

Weeks: 38 weeks

Weight gain: 28 lbs. Ugh! 9 more pounds than I weighed when I had Addison. I am totally blaming the fair, and our trip to Costco. The fact that the baby is SOOOOO low has made me much more hungry than when she was high.

Cravings: Nothing new, still ice. I drink out of a water bottle, but lately have been filling a huge cup with ice water about 5 times a day. I am obsessed with ice!

Symptoms/Changes: The baby is extremely low! I am not even exaggerating when I say that she cannot get any lower, or she will be in the birth canal! This makes me more hungry, and makes everything hurt that much more. Can me pelvic bone hurt any worse? I think not. Plus, I have been getting a lot of round ligament pain that I read so much about in the beginning. I also noticed swelling yesterday, which totally grosses me out. Almost as bad as seeing girls in bikinis with stretch marks.

Differences I've noticed this time around: EVERYTHING!

Things Addison says about the baby: The baby always moves when I drink water. I found out yesterday at my appointment that I have a really good amount of amniotic fluid, which is probably why. Addison grabbed her water bottle and said, "Let me see if my baby moves when I drink my water."

Miscellaneous: At my appointment yesterday, my doctor informed me that I am still only 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. So much for the baby coming early. Maybe she will be like Lindsey's baby and come one day early. Stubborn babies! But, they come when they want to, not when we want them to. I did find out that my doctor will be out of town for two weeks beginning Sunday, so unless there is some change and she comes within the next few days, he will not be there to deliver the baby. I really like my doctor, but I am not worried about him not being there. A lot of people would FREAK out because that was not in their "plan", but I am one of those people who doesn't even bother to write a birth plan or expect anything, because anything can change at any time, and as long as the baby is taken care of in the hospital and delivered by the safest method that the doctors feel necessary, I am fine with it. There is no sense in complaining or being disappointed because things didn't go your way...after all, the birth of your baby should be a happy event. One of the benefits is that since my doctor won't be here, unless they decide to induce me in the end, I am totally going to try to go to a different hospital. My mom and grandma thought the hospital in Fallbrook was so cute and that Fallbrook was the cutest town ever, but honestly, since our insurance doesn't cover 100% like Tricare did (oh how I miss Tricare), I might as well go to an awesome brand new hospital with rooms that look more like a hotel than a hospital.
