Birthday party...gymnastics...and Miranda sitting up at 5 months!

Addison went to her first preschool birthday party on Sunday. It was at SCEGA gymnastics, which is the "elite" gymnastics center in our area. She had so much fun, and was very brave! She loved it. Needless to say, she is now going to gymnastics every Friday with another little girl in her class. She is so excited, and starts her first class tomorrow!
Miranda turned 5 months old on Tuesday...already! I can't even believe she is 5 months old. I think I say that every month, but the time is flying by. It's funny, but I always felt like I was a great parent to an only child and wasn't sure how I could ever love another baby as much as Addison, but oh my goodness. Just one look at Miranda and you fall in love. She is such a clown, in part due to her hair, but she has such a personality. It's pretty crazy! It's gotten so easy to be a mom of two. I can easily get us out the door by 8:30. I was afraid that it would be even harder to get two girls ready, but we have a definite routine. This means that all appointments are usually made at 9 a.m. With Addison, even though she was so well-behaved, I hated taking her anywhere alone. Now with Miranda, we go shopping at least once a week. She is practically a permanent fixture in the Baby Bjorn. Thank goodness, because that's how I do my grocery shopping.

She has now moved on from Bananas and fell in love with Avocados, and is working her way through the Butternut Squash! The first week of solids she seemed to be waking up every 3 hours at night, but the past two nights she has gone 6 hours in between bottles at night. That doesn't mean she was sound asleep, and neither was I, but the fact that she can do it made me very happy! And I thought Addison sat up early at 5 1/2 months, but Miranda surprised us by sitting up at 5 months and 1 day. Considering she was fully rolling at 3 months, when most babies don't roll until 6 months, we kind of expected it.
I decided to put Christmas presents under the tree, and Addison keeps marveling at how Miranda only has a few presents and she has so many. She doesn't really even care what's in them, but she loves to see them there. They have a wrapping station at school, where the kids get to wrap things during free play. She loves it! When we got to her school today, all of the angels were gone from the tree, but they are getting more soon. Good thing because I wanted to choose at least two, one for Addison and one for Miranda (who is clueless, but it's the thought that counts). It's so exciting to see empty angel trees! It is so fun to give gifts, especially to those who may not get any.

Eek...another exciting thing is that Carlos' last day of the semester is next week. We are going to be missing December Nights for the first time in four years because he has two papers due on Monday, but we will be staying in San Diego the following weekend. It works out well for us because Jungle Bells doesn't start at the zoo until then anyway. Anyone that goes to school, works full time, and has kids, knows how stressful school is...it will be nice to be able to get away for the weekend after the semester is over to celebrate. A whole month off. Woohoo!
