San Diego Weekend

On Saturday morning we drove down to San Diego to stay for the weekend. We had planned to go to the zoo, but everything else we decided that we'd wait until we were there and figure out what we wanted to do. Aside from a few snafu's with the hotel, we definitely had the BEST view in all of SD. I have stayed at the Marriott and Manchester Grand Hyatt right on the water, as well as the Wyndham at Emerald Plaza, and let me tell you, none even compared to this view. We could see Downtown, the airport, the Coronado Bridge, the bay, and North Island. It was really cool! Even at night, it was hard to close the curtains.
We headed to the zoo right after checking into the hotel. This was the first time that Miranda had gone to the zoo. She LOVES being outside, so she was awesome the ENTIRE time. And of course, she was having so much fun, she didn't even let us know when it was time for her to eat. Why can't she do that every day! And since I had forgotten to charge my camera, it died halfway through the zoo, which is why there are no pictures of the lights, the skyfari at night, or Addison's favorite...the train! These are some of my faves...
After we went to the zoo, we went to Coronado, and then back to the hotel. We were EXHAUSTED to say the least. Addison woke up and was so excited to watch planes taking off out the window.
We knew that we were going to go to our favorite restaurant (Casa Guadalajara) in Old Town, but wanted to do something besides just going to Old Town, since we have been there a million times. We have always had free tickets to the Midway, and I always end up giving them away, so we had never actually gone on it. This time we figured we may as well go, even if we did have to pay. It was well worth it. I have been on a destroyer before, and seen all of the aircraft from going to the air shows, but never been on a carrier. It was fun to go with Carlos, because he could tell us what everything was.
 MY FAVORITE PICTURE EVER!!!
Addison has more pictures on aircraft than any child I know, so I had to get one of Miranda. Of course there are many many many more pictures of Addison posted on FB, but after a while, a child in a pilots chair  gets boring.
Of course, I am DEVASTATED about what happened in CT on Friday. I don't even know if devastated covers what happened. I believe it is because Addison is school-aged, so you think about all of the things that these parents are now dealing with, like remembering the last thing they said when they sent their child off to school. Thankfully, I am not alone in my paranoia, sadness, and overthinking the entire situation. I pray that these families will find peace, and hope that they know that every child out there is now getting extra hugs, kisses, and "I love you's", all because God wanted some Angels to come home before Christmas. With that said, I knew I would not be able to send Addison off to preschool today. I would have literally been worried sick. I will be the first to say that this can happen ANYWHERE, but it just felt too soon! At the same time, there was no way I was keeping her home. After all, the Nativity Cookie Party was today, and there was NO WAY she was missing decorating Baby Jesus! I had volunteered to go in at 11, but I texted Addison's teacher and asked if I could just stay all day. I know, I'm THAT weird parent, but it did help me to push what happened out of my mind, and reassured me that she would be fine. This is her and her friend Brooklyn (also in her gymnastics class), after we decorated their cookies.
Addison and Lilla playing with the dollhouse. Is it funny that Addison calls the mid-40's looking doll with slicked back black hair, the "grandpa"?
Of course, Miranda was awesome. She slept part of the time, and was in the Baby Bjorn the rest of the time. What would I do without that thing? I know...I'd have a back that didn't hurt!!!
