We're adjusting, but loving it!!!

We officially moved into our new house on Saturday, even though we had the truck until Monday and thought it might take that long. My mom, brother, and his two friends came to help us on Saturday. What a help they were. My brothers friend Jen played with Addison, a lot, as well as moving a ton of things for us...and she drove my car up here so I wouldn't have to! Him and his friend Kyle helped Carlos with all of the heavy lifting. I had to take Addison to the doctor that morning, for a non-infectious allergy to her eye (I still think it was a bug bite), so they had a good majority of the apartment loaded into the truck.

When we got to the house, it was chaos as usual. Trying to figure out where to put everything, and having the stairs to carry furniture up didn't make it the easiest. The good thing is that they are open stairs, (not an enclosed staircase), so it's a little easier to maneuver things around.

Sunday was my birthday, but I mostly did laundry and painted another bathroom. Still one more bathroom to go! We ate yummy dinner and had the best chocolate-banana cake ever. Addison enjoyed the balloons that my mom had brought me, which she insisted were for her.

Some of the things I am LOVING about this house/city:

  • The size! It's huge compared to our apartment! It's odd to have several rooms that you literally do not walk into at any point during the day!
  • The backyard. It's present state is dead grass with one ugly palm tree that needs to go, but we are enjoying the huge patio for now. Addison loves going out their every night and blowing bubbles when Carlos gets home.
  • Having an office/toy room. Even though we have a ton of toys in the family room, it's nice to have a place for Addison's toy bin, as well as my huge desk (Valentines present) that hides the computer, printer, DVD's, etc.
  • The kitchen! It's huge. I have so many cabinets that are completely empty. The downside is that the cabinets are not great and the white tile is pretty chipped. That will be another project!
  • Not having carpet in the main living areas is AWESOME!!! I am finally adjusting to the tile that is in the bathrooms and laundry room.
  • The weather is amazing! I thought it would be super-hot, but it looks like today will be the second day where we don't have to turn on the air! 72 degrees with a breeze, all while being sunny...talk about a dream! At night when we go out to play in the backyard it is chilly (which I love) and we actually need to wear jackets!
  • The neighbors are so nice. We looked at a lot of neighborhoods where the neighbors seemed less than desirable (like those that party at the river 24/7), especially in the North Temecula areas (which is why we ruled them out instantly), but our street is so diverse and everyone is so friendly!
  • We are about 2 miles (if that) from the wineries. No I don't drink wine, but Addison loves going up there to look at the horses along the way!
Basically, we are loving everything about living here. Yes, the drive won't be great for Carlos, but he said it isn't too bad. And seriously, having a bigger house in a school district that is better than any in San Diego will definitely be worth it!

Who knew people were lame enough to post comments on blogs anonymously??? Hmmm, grow up or stop reading the blog if it bothers you.
