New Car...

When we were in Palm Springs last weekend, we had talked about how we need a car that has more passenger room than the truck. The truck had 4 doors, but we needed something that could seat more than just 2 additional passengers. With the carseat in there, it takes up a ton of room. We had gone to the Chevy dealership with the intention of looking at the Silverado Crew Cab. It isn't much bigger though, so I started wandering into the SUV's. I am not one of those people who has to constantly tell people they drive an "SUV", and had never considered one. I had loved the Chevy Traverse when they first came out, but didn't like the back. Once I actually test drove one, and saw one that was fully loaded, I was HOOKED!!! We were pricing one that wasn't as great, just to see how much more the payment would be. The truck payment was $500 a month, which I know isn't much compared to a lot of cars, but still, I didn't want to go hundreds over that. Of course we all know how salespeople just want to seal the deal, so I negotiated with them forever, and finally told him that if he could get the fully loaded version for the price we wanted (a little more than what we paid on the truck), and if they would give us a decent amount on the trade-in, we would take it. And...voila...he was able to do it. I hadn't really shopped around for cars, but AFTER we bought it, I started researching, and it was ranked #3 out of 22 mid-sized SUV's, only after the Ford Explorer and the Mazda CX-7. That made me very happy, knowing we got a car that was ranked so high, and was very safe. To me, a car can never have too many airbags! It got ranked the highest for having the largest 3rd row passenger room, as well as the most cargo room. I love the fact that the third row isn't backed up against the back door, since I wouldn't want anyone sitting back there. I have to admit, and anyone that drives VW's knows they are far nicer inside than the comparable Accord's, Camry's, and Malibu's, but this is soooo nice inside. I wasn't expecting that much on the interior, but I am so happy we were able to get this car! Yay! Now we will just drive the Jetta (Carlos' commuter car) into the ground. Lol! Putting 100+ miles a day on a car...we'll see how long it lasts!

Does Carlos look sad saying goodbye to his truck?
The new 'mom car'!
And the funniest thing ever, I just found out one of my good friends is going to be buying one as well!
