Allergies???

When I was working with elementary aged kids, I used to get sick at least once a month, despite having flu shots and what not. I haven't gotten a flu shot in 4 years, and surprisingly, have not been sick in as long. Yesterday, I woke up feeling like I was in the beginning stages of a possible cold. Everyone knows that when you're pregnant, the added hormones often cause stuffiness at night, but it is always gone within 30 minutes of waking up. I could tell this was different. And of course, I was not sick with Addison, so I didn't know it was 100x worse when pregnant.

On Saturday, we spent the day gardening. We added some new plants and flowers to our two planters in the front, as well as some dichondra grass around the pavers that lead to our hose. What a huge difference it makes, but boy was I sore after. Carlos would have done all of it, and was insisting on doing it, but there are some things that I INSIST on doing, and planting my new flowers was one of them.

So, back to Sunday, my parents were coming down because Addison insisted on putting a door on her closet. She was suddenly "scared" of all of her stuff in her closet. When we bought this house, I knew that I wanted to replace every door, hinge, and doorknob there was. That's 12 interior doors. I also insisted that the doorknobs and hinges be the oil-rubbed bronze. If we are getting rid of the ugly single-panel doors, we might as well make the entire thing look nice with better hinges and knobs. So, on one of our two trips to Home Depot on Saturday, we had gotten a door for Addison's walk-in closet. When my parents came down, we decided to get the rest of the doors for upstairs, all but our bathroom and closet door in our room. Well, Addison's door took FOREVER to put up. Nothing is ever perfectly square, so the door had to be shaved, and the door jam had to be taken apart and put back together so it would fit. They ended up putting a door on her bedroom as well. It looks 100% better, even though they aren't actually painted yet. Next up, putting up the rest of the doors, as well as the new closet doors in the nursery. It's crazy what a difference better doors makes! I already knew this, but didn't know it would be so noticeable.

Throughout the day, I kept feeling worse and worse. By the time I woke up this morning, I felt like I had been hit by a truck, which is pretty bad, considering I used to be sick back in the day and never ever called in sick to work. Let me tell you, if I were working, I would not be at work today. I am starting to think that it is in fact allergies to something, and not an actual cold. I have sneezed at least 100x today...not even joking!

I'm hoping that whatever it is, Addison doesn't get it. She has had a two-day cold twice in her 3+ years, has never had to deal with snot or the sneezing that comes along with allergies, and has never had a cough. I don't even know what it would sound like for her to have an actual cough! Weird, I know! So, here's to hoping this goes away and that I don't have to call the doctor to get a prescription. If you know me, you know I do not take medicine or anything when pregnant...not even Tums when my heartburn is burning my throat!
