So, Addison has an obsession with cooking, baking, and basically helping with anything. Although now that I think about it, she used to love picking up her toys, and recently has started to claim that she has "no power" or "no energy". Ugh.
This week, we decided we were going to eat at home for the entire week. And by the week, I mean Monday-Friday. It went well until we went to Burger King yesterday after the post office, but hey, I couldn't have expected myself to literally have every single meal home-cooked. And I cannot tell you the last time I went to Burger King. It may have been when Addison and I were stuck up here for 3 days waiting for our carpet and flooring to be put in and had no access to the kitchen, television, computer, etc...almost 9 months ago!
If we aren't making something, Addison begs to make something. If we've already cooked or baked everything we had possibly planned for the day, she plays in her Minnie kitchen in her room. We got her the kitchen when she was two, but recently she has really been fascinated by it. She usually makes "Hello Kitty Cakes", and will mix together flour, milk, eggs, turn the dials to "10 minutes" on the oven, and put the mixing bowl in. She then takes it out and stirs it. Hmmm, I guess she hasn't learned a whole lot about baking yet, but considering I don't let her do anything having to do with the oven or stove, I guess it's understandable. If she's in her room, chances are she's playing with her kitchen, or her stroller, shopping cart, car, etc.
The other day I made egg salad sandwiches for lunch, and she literally mixed the entire thing for me. She mixed the mayo and mustard, and then continued to mix it as I added the eggs. She also ate a few egg whites in between, which totally grossed me out! I did not mix one thing! Today we made French Toast for breakfast, and when we were done I had mentioned that we would make muffins later in the day. Well, that didn't happen, because she wanted to make them as soon as we were done eating.
She loves to take out the measuring cups, pour every ingredient into the bowl, stir, and her favorite...picking cilantro off of the stems when we use it in our chicken. Every night, she insists on helping Carlos get his coffee ready for the morning. It's cute that she is so fascinated by this, and of course all of the counting, measuring, and everything else that comes with baking/cooking is a great learning experience, but when you're in a hurry, a 3 year old sitting on the counter insisting that they help is not so cute.
