I refer to it as the big reveal, because I'm not sure if we'll tell everyone the baby's gender or just leave it a surprise. Of course there will be a few people that will HAVE to know, but it seems like it might be fun to surprise everyone. Yes, the big day is next week. I remember thinking about how anxious I would be to find out, and how I would go to an early detection office to find out. But, when the time came around, I didn't want to ruin the surprise (for myself) too soon. There is something about the anticipation of the baby's gender that is so awesome. Most of you know, it's unlike any other "surprise" you will ever get in your life. Of course, I cannot wait until the end, because I am a planner shopper by nature, and I can't even imagine doing a neutral nursery. For some reason, neutral nurseries work out great if you have a girl, but with boys, they always end up looking too...well, you know.
I have already bought a few boy outfits, which works out great because Lindsey is having a boy, so if we have a girl, I can give all of the boy things to her. And of course, if we have a girl, I did buy one outfit. Lol! I felt bad buying just for one sex. I know, call me crazy! I did not save anything of Addison's except for her special outfits, so it will be a shopping-fest all over again. Seriously, nothing beats a baby girl in the summer. Bubble rompers and sunsuits...enough said! And of course, it would be fun to buy for a boy because, while there are not as many cute things to buy, dressing a boy is a totally different experience. Imagine only having to buy 2 or 3 pairs of shoes for each season??? Addison currently has about 13 pairs of shoes for Winter! I was smart enough to save all of her Converse and dress shoes since they were hardly worn!
It's so fun to find out the sex of your first baby because having a baby is such a new experience. You don't know the differences between boys and girls, and you really don't even know what every single minute of having a baby entails. With your second, you sort of know what to expect, although of course, every baby/child is different. But, if you have the same sex, you are a little more prepared, and if you have the opposite sex, your world is probably about to change completely!
I am seriously SOOOOOO excited! WE are all so excited! It will be so fun to choose names, bedding (if it's a boy since I already have girls bedding picked out), shop for clothes, etc.
