Cleaning, the Bunny, and Paint...oh my!

On Saturday we had decided to go see the Easter Bunny. Addison was still not feeling her best, so when she decided to be a great helper when I started cleaning, we just kept going and going and going. Carlos was mowing the lawns, and then decided to cut our ugly palm tree. Addison and I had been so sick, that I hadn't done any real grocery shopping in weeks! So, after cleaning, working on the yards, and needing to go to the store, we didn't have time for the Bunny. My parents were coming down on Sunday, so I knew my mom and I could take her to the mall.

Sunday was supposed to be really cold. I never have her wear her Easter dress for bunny pictures, but always have her wear some kind of Spring dress since I don't have professional pictures taken in the Spring. Since it was supposed to be cold, she wore a tank, sweater, and capris. Needless to say, the weather people were drastically wrong, and it ended up being super warm!!! She was really excited to see the bunny, but my mom was hovering with her too much which does not work when she is going to see the bunny/santa, and she ends up getting kind of scared. So, rather than sending her up on her own, she didn't really have an interest in seeing him. She had the fakest smile ever, and between that and the awful photography skills of the people at the mall, her picture turned out blurry and really pale. Luckily, I discovered that they give you a $10 credit with certain picture packages, and the digital download is only $9.99. Needless to say, I tried to "fix" the photo with PSE. After, we went to B&B Works to stock up on hand soap, the Disney Store, and a few other stores before going to eat at Island's...Addison's choice! Well, she started having a coughing attack at Island's, so needless to say, that was the fastest lunch EVER!

We got home to see the color that my dad and Carlos had gotten for the nursery. I had wanted a turquoise, but once they painted over the brown that we had just painted a few months back, it ended up looking way too bright. Yesterday I broke out the cheesecloth and white paint and tried adding clouds to the ceiling to break it up. The clouds turned out so pretty, so I redid the clouds in Addison's room which weren't as great. They still aren't perfect, but are better than before. Now the dilemma. I am obsessed with how good the clouds turned out in the nursery, but there is still too much blue!!! I am thinking we are going to have to paint the ceiling white. I don't like white ceilings in small rooms. A lot of people think that painted ceilings make small rooms look smaller, but in fact, depending on the color, they actually enlarge the room because their is no distinction to break up the ceiling and the walls. In this case though, I think it is necessary to tone down the crazy blue. I started looking at turquoise nurseries on Pinterest, and all of the pictures that I liked had white ceilings, and the ones that I didn't had painted ceilings. Boohoo! That means the ceiling will now have 6+ coats of paint on it. Thankfully, you'd never know!
I was in crazy nesting-mode yesterday, and decided that I wanted to put the crib up. I also thought it would help me get a better idea of how the blue looks. We have the changing table in there, and are still waiting for the dresser which is on backorder until late May. The crib was Addison's old crib, and although it has some knicks and scratches from taking it apart and storing it in her closet when her room at the apartment flooded, and then dragging it out of the closet and moving it to our new house, only to jam it in another closet, it's still okay. We didn't save the assembly instructions, and I couldn't find them online, but if there is one thing I know, it's how to put things together. Seriously, I could be a handyman. And no, I am not joking. So, Addison helped me put it together. We are only missing two screws which I can get at HD, but it's put together. I also ironed the bedding (what a pain) and put it on. Because the mattress is so high, I pushed the bumpers down lower that the mattress, but it's fine for now.

(No, the room is NOT this blue!!! The ceiling color is closer to the actual color, and of course, the baseboards aren't painted yet.)
